Established in 2001, the mission of Community Counseling & Mentoring Services, Inc. (CCMS) is to provide clinical and therapeutic support services to children, adolescents and their families with emotional, educational, developmental and psychosocial needs.
CCMS is approved by the Mental Hygiene Administration of the State of Maryland as an Outpatient Mental Health Clinic and a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program. Since its inception, CCMS has specialized in clinical services, i.e., individual and group therapy, play therapy, family therapy, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, therapeutic mentoring, and after school programs.
CCMS primarily provides services to children, adolescents, and their families, both onsite and home-based. Currently, our census is four hundred plus (400) clients of which approximately twenty five (25) receive only medication management services. Presenting problems include but are not limited to Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Depression, Conduct Disorder, Adjustment Disorders, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), etc.
CCMS has partnered with various public and private child-serving agencies to provide community based clinical services. These partnerships include a Memorandum of Understanding with the Prince George’s County Public Schools and The Prince George’s County Health Department. Other partnerships include Concern Professional Services for Children (Therapeutic Foster Care), Head Start, Department of Social Services (DSS), Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) Group Homes. Each partnership focuses on providing a comprehensive treatment approach utilizing best practices for each setting’s constellation of needs. Additionally, CCMS is funded by the Princes Georges County Department of Family Services Grant to provide Multi-Systemic Therapy Program services to Princes Georges County residents. CCMS also serves as a training program for graduate social work and psychology interns from the University of Maryland and Howard University.
CCMS staff consists of various mental health professionals, including clinical social workers, psychologists, licensed professional bi-lingual counselors, and a child and adolescent psychiatrist. Collectively, our program administrative staff has over thirty years experience providing mental health services to children and adolescents and their families.
